DubThon Culminates Record Setting Second Year
On January 27, over 350 students at the University of North Carolina Wilmington came together at DubThon to celebrate and recognize the patients and families at Duke Children’s hospital. DubThon is one of four Miracle Network Dance Marathon programs benefiting Duke Children’s. They are a part of an even larger nationwide movement that unites college, university, and high school students across North America. Students involved in a campus’ dance marathon organization spend a year gaining leadership, teamwork, and nonprofit business experience while raising funds and awareness for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
The students at UNCW culminated their year-long fundraising with a 6-hour event at Burney Hall on campus. They enjoyed games, music, and dancing at the superhero themed event. Students welcomed the real superheroes, six Miracle Families from Duke Children’s, and they were able to share their story and experiences to the group. These families have all benefited from the support and efforts of DubThon. In the programs second year of existence, they revealed a record-breaking total of $54,001.73, which will all go directly to Duke Children’s. These funds are important in helping the hospital continue to provide the highest quality patient-centered care possible to every child who needs our help – whether they are fighting the flu or cancer, need stitches or surgery, have a broken bone or lifelong disease. Thank you to DubThon for their continued support of Duke Children’s! #ForTheKids
