Meet 2024 National Champion Adeline

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals proudly introduces its newest cohort of National Champions, a group of extraordinary ambassadors dedicated to raising awareness about the critical need for charitable donations to support pediatric healthcare. These inspirational children and their families hail from diverse backgrounds and represent various member hospitals across the U.S. Each Champion’s unique journey exemplifies the profound impact of donations on their lives, underscoring the urgent need to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Meet Adeline:

When Adeline was born, she experienced frequent heart arrhythmias, also known as an irregular heartbeat. At first, her doctors were not concerned, but out of an abundance of caution they sent Adeline and her family to Duke Children’s, their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals member hospital. Adeline was seen by a pediatric electrophysiologist who diagnosed her with Long QT Syndrome (LQTS), a rare, potentially life-threatening condition that is difficult to detect. At seven days old, Adeline underwent open heart surgery to implant a therapeutic pacemaker, and she remains on a strict regimen of medicines to help her and her family manage the condition. There is no cure for LQTS, but it is something that can be managed. Today, Adeline is a happy, energetic second grader. She loves drawing and art, her favorite subject is science, and she recently started musical theater and is looking forward to her upcoming performances! Donations enable Adeline’s medical team to conduct innovative research to better understand Long QT Syndrome and how to manage it, enabling Adeline to live a longer, healthier life.

Donations to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals allow Adeline’s medical team at Duke Children’s to research and better understand Long QT Syndrome and how to manage it, enabling Adeline and kids like her to live longer, healthier lives.

Meet all the 2024 National Champions.
