Duke Children’s Screams for Ice Cream

Triangle Dairy Queen owner, Andy Valkanoff, celebrates with Duke Children’s. He and his team raised over $20,000 for the local hospital.

Duke Children’s is celebrating the incredible 2017 results of Dairy Queen locations market-wide. Altogether, our 40 locations raised over $47,000 to benefit the hospital. Thanks to this Children’s Miracle Network partner, more than 60,000 children in 2017 received world-class medical care from Duke Children’s primary care offices, specialty outpatient clinics, and our inpatient hospital.

On January 31, we had the opportunity to recognize Andy Valkanoff, owner and operator of Triangle Dairy Queen. His four locations in Cary, Sanford, Morrisville, and Raleigh raised a combined $21,187.57 for Duke Children’s. These funds were raised through the sale of Miracle Balloons in the months of June and July, culminating with the delicious Miracle Treat Day. Raising money for Duke Children’s is a family affair – not only does Andy give back to our local hospital, but his wife, Christina Valkanoff, is an area RE/MAX agent. Her office was generous enough to add to the Dairy Queen total as well. We couldn’t do what we do without wonderful community partners like them!

The Dairy Queen system is a national partner with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and has raised more than $130 million since 1984 for the 170 local children’s hospitals across the U.S. and Canada. In over 30 years, the partnership has support life-saving treatments to kids across North America. The money always stays local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care.
