Local GameStop locations raise $7,000 for Duke Children’s

Between August 29 and September 30, 72 GameStop stores – from Wilmington to Winston-Salem and everywhere in between – raised funds for two of their charitable partners, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Make-A-Wish, in order to “help local kids get back to being kids.”

Customers at GameStop were asked to donate $1, $5, $10 or round up their change to the nearest dollar when they made a purchase at the register. Donations will be split evenly between Duke Children’s and Make-A-Wish. Over the 32-day campaign, GameStop locations across our market raised over $14,000 to benefit the two organizations. That means just by donating at the register when buying your favorite video game helped bring more than $7,000 to Duke Children’s to support sick and injured kids in the area!

This was the first year for the GameStop partnership. It was a national fit for CMN Hospitals as they engage over 50,000 gamers in a 24-hour fundraising and gaming marathon through Extra Life. On a local level, Duke Children’s saw over 500 gamers participate for the hospital in 2017, raising $108,000.

Heath is a Duke Children’s patient who also had his wish granted by Make-A-Wish.
