Thank You Walmart for Helping Make Daily Miracles Happen!

On April 20, 2017, Duke Children’s hosted over 130 Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Neighborhood Markets leaders and associates for a celebration and special mural unveiling. Walmart businesses have supported Duke Children’s for thirty years, raising over $17 million in customer donations to help the hospital make daily miracles happen. Guests heard remarks from Dr. Ann Reed, Physician-in-Chief of Duke Children’s, and Brent Rains, regional manager of Walmart. They were also led in a celebratory Walmart cheer by Cooper Thomas, who spent his first months in the Duke Children’s Intensive Care Nursery, and his mother. After the program, guests enjoyed refreshments, and had the opportunity to view the special mural, painted by local Durham artist Freeman Beard.
